Campus, Community

This spring, the 兔子先生 campus will get moving for a meaningful cause鈥攑ublic health awareness and workforce development. Hosted by the Public Health Student Association (PHSA), the invites students, faculty, and staff to take part in an event that blends physical activity, community building, and public health education.

The event will be held on Thursday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., starting at Wheelock Plaza (The Slab).

Flyer for 5K that states WALK/RUN/ROLL & LEARN Friday, May 2nd, 10 a.m.-1p.m.

This is not your typical 5K. Designed as an inclusive, all-abilities event, participants are encouraged to walk, run, or roll鈥攈owever they choose to move. The route is accessible and welcoming to everyone, whether you're an avid runner, a casual walker, or using mobility aids.

What makes this 5K unique is its format as a Data Walk. Along the course, participants will encounter engaging displays highlighting data and stories related to public health workforce development. These mile markers offer insight into the wide range of career opportunities within the field of public health and the critical role this workforce plays in promoting health equity and community wellbeing.

鈥淲e鈥檙e thrilled to bring the campus together for a morning of movement, learning, and community,鈥 said Bethany Warnick MPH鈥25, Master of Public Health candidate and PHSA president. 鈥淭his inclusive 5K not only promotes wellness but also highlights the diverse career pathways in public health workforce development. Whether you run, walk, or roll, there鈥檚 something here for everyone to discover and enjoy.鈥

In addition to promoting health and awareness, the event features a few exciting extras. All participants must complete a waiver prior to the event, and the first 60 individuals to preregister will receive a free event T-shirt. After completing the route, participants are invited to stay for a raffle at the finish line to win prizes.

The Walk, Run, & Roll 5K is part of PHSA鈥檚 broader mission to engage the campus community in conversations about public health, inclusion, and career development. By combining physical activity, education, and community engagement, this event offers a well-rounded experience for all who attend.

Whether you're looking to get active, learn something new, support a good cause, or simply enjoy time with the campus community, this event has something for everyone.
