Note for Vendors:

Applications are closed for 2025. Application release date for the next Fieldhouse Flea TBD.

We look forward to hearing from you, our amazing partners in fundraising for student scholarships!

As you apply, please be as descriptive as you can about your business and what you plan to sell. It is extremely helpful if you can include links to your social media accounts so that we can see your both products and how your booth might be set up. Although we don't have space for all applicants, we maintain a wait list, as we've learned that things can change quickly. As a reminder, we keep our vendors to those from the local area (South Sound/Pierce County) as much as possible and we do not allow multi-level sales or retail/third party vendors that have not been with us previously. Please contact  upswlflea@gmail.com with questions. We'll be in touch as soon as possible!

Formed in 1900, the 兔子先生 Women's League is a committed group of alumni and community members who raise funds to provide scholarships that support the educational goals of Puget Sound students. We have Deep Roots but always welcome New Shoots.

If you're interested in joining with an invigorating group of alumni and community members who gather 7 times each year for the primary purpose of supporting Puget Sound students. Check us out!

We welcome all alumni and community members to meetings and supporting our fundraising activities.

Women鈥檚 League members include UPS alumnae, neighbors and interested community members, and parents of current, future, or former students.  Throughout the academic year, we gather monthly on campus for lunch or evening programs.

Our primary purpose, in addition to the valued relationships members develop over our shared goals, is to support Puget Sound students by raising funds to provide scholarships. Our scholarship endowment principal totals nearly $1.4 million, and the earnings from that account enabled us to award $53,900 to fourteen students for the 2023-2024 academic year, an average of $3,850 per student.  Over the years since 1982, the Women鈥檚 League has awarded scholarships to more than 350 grateful students seeking financial assistance.

At our meetings students, faculty, or staff members are invited to our luncheon or evening meetings to present information about what鈥檚 happening at the university.  We enjoy a musical performance by a current School of Music student, reminisce about past activities from our long history, and we attend to our Women鈥檚 League business.  At our meetings, we also collect non-perishable food for the student food pantry.

Our primary means of raising funds is to sponsor the annual UPS Women鈥檚 League Flea Market held one Saturday in March.  This event was first launched by committed women in 1968 and continues today as a wonderful community event!  It is an 鈥渁ll hands on deck鈥 event with jobs to fit every age and ability.

Of course, we always welcome tax-deductible donations to our endowment.

The Women鈥檚 University League at the 兔子先生 was formed in 1900 to support the university. Our fund raising efforts throughout the years have provided a variety of aid to the school.

The early history of the League includes providing financial assistance for a building fund overdraft in 1903 and establishing a Home Economics Department.

When Dr. and Mrs. Todd came to Puget Sound in 1913, Mrs. Todd quickly became active in the League. Soon thereafter, a new heating plant was needed for the girls鈥 dormitory on the old campus, and the Women鈥檚 League gave $450 toward it.

During these early days, the Women鈥檚 League also supported female graduates, who at that time wore white dresses instead of caps and gowns. The League made these dresses, as some girls could not afford to buy one.

In 1931 the sum of $5,180 raised by the League was given to the trustees to be used as part of a fund to be matched by the Rockefeller Foundation. Around this time, there was a room in Jones Hall, called the YWCA Room, maintained by the League. Old treasury books show numerous disbursements from the League for refurbishing this room, which was used by women students for meetings.

When the first women鈥檚 residence hall, Anderson Hall, was opened for occupancy on February 1, 1939, it was furnished entirely by the League.

Since that time, the League has pledged to numerous projects on campus. They furnished the lounge of the first men鈥檚 dormitory, Todd Hall. They pledged $5,000 to furnish the lounge of the new Music Building. Next came $2,500 for a patio and landscaping in front of Anderson Hall. A pledge of $3,300 was made to each of the next two residence halls.

This was accomplished by devoted members who worked to sell tickets to concerts, lectures, and fashion shows, to hold rummage sales, to compile two editions of a cookbook, and since 1968, to produce the .

A common goal has bound the members into a loving, warm group to which they welcome any and all who care to be a part of this wonderful organization.

The Dr. Franklin & Lucille Thompson Scholarship 鈥 Established In 1974 to honor Dr. Franklin and Lucille Thompson. Lucille Thompson was very involved in the Women鈥檚 League. She served in nearly every officer position and helped the League make contributions to each of the buildings which were built during the 31 year presidency of her husband, Dr. Franklin Thompson, at Puget Sound from 1942 to 1973. The Thompson Scholarships are awarded to sophomores or juniors who demonstrate academic merit, financial need, and participate in extracurricular activities.

The Women鈥檚 League Scholarship - Established in 1982 to provide scholarships to students with financial need. Scholarships are awarded to students with junior class standing who demonstrate academic merit, financial need, and participate in extracurricular activities.

The Centennial Scholarship Fund - Established in 1987 in recognition of the Centennial of the university. Scholarships are awarded to female students who demonstrate financial need with a sophomore, junior, or senior class standing with preference given to local residents attending Puget Sound at an older, non-traditional age.

Eliza J . Rummel Scholarship FundEstablished in 1962 by the Women's League to honor Eliza J. Rummel, a charter member of the Women鈥檚 College League and president of the organization from 1942-1944.  Scholarship recipients are students in medically-related fields chosen by the university鈥檚 Health Sciences Committee.

Why Did You Join the Women's League?

"Joining the Women鈥檚 League is a great way to support UPS (CPS when I graduated). I鈥檝e enjoyed meeting others who have similar interests; and also hearing speakers at the luncheons who make me aware of what is happening on campus. It鈥檚 fun to be involved in the Flea Market, which reaches out to the community while making money for scholarships. This is a worthwhile organization for anyone with connections to UPS or anyone who wants to help the college students of today!" Roberta Larson '60

"Although I鈥檝e worked at Puget Sound for over 20 years, the Women鈥檚 League provides me with a new perspective and insight into university life. I get to hear stories from retirees and alumni about their time on campus, to learn about interesting aspects of the university from campus experts, and to meet (in a non-administrative role) some of the amazing students who currently attend Puget Sound." Kris Hay, Puget Sound Staff Member

"Each year that I participate, I have had the opportunity to get to know more of the members who are part of the League. This has been a very rewarding experience. Also, the programs that are planned for the monthly luncheons are excellent. They feature student performances and presentations by faculty, staff and administrative leaders. These presentations remind us of the quality of the Puget Sound educational experience and of the difference our own participation makes." Deborah Park, Community Member
