- Accommodations are determined on a case by case basis for students "qualified" under ADA and Section 504. The ADA defines a person with a disability as any individual who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of such individual, any individual who has a record of such impairment, and any individual who is regarded as having such an impairment.
- SAA acknowledges that once a person is diagnosed as having a disability, the disability is most often viewed as being life-long. It is likely the symptoms and severity of the condition and the level of impact in various settings may change over time. The requested documentation supports SAA in considering each student individually, to understand if and how the student is impacted by their particular disability. We examine the level of impact specifically within the context of higher education living and learning environment, in order to determine the need for reasonable accommodations.
